# Our bot

Hello. If you have found this name in your logs, it was us, after your icon.

We ask your site for its homepage and the icon it points at, about once a week, and keep nothing but the icon, so there is nothing you need to do. If you would rather we stayed away, the last part says how.

## What it wants

The little icon a browser shows in its tab. When your site turns up in somebody’s stats, we draw it beside your name. To find it we ask for your homepage, then for the icon it points at.

And when someone types your domain into the [installation checker](https://fiveb.ar/docs/install/checker.md), to see whether fivebar can run on your site, it asks for your homepage once, to read its Content Security Policy. That is the lot.

## It is not a crawler

No links followed, no second page, no script run, and nothing kept but the icon. That is also why it does not read `robots.txt`. It comes back for the icon about once a week, and for a check only when someone asks.

## If you would rather it did not

A 403 is plenty and it will not argue. We draw a plain globe instead, and the checker says it was turned away, and no harm done.
